Oscar as Cupid (age 4 months)

These are pictures of our adorable grandsons. They are dressed as Cupid and their very talented Mother has made a kit for other moms that would also like to dress their babies for Valentine's Day. She submitted her idea to "ReMarthable Ideas" from the Martha Stewart Show and was featured yesterday on the Martha Stewart Show as well as being featured on her website. Congratulations Suzy we are so proud of you!

Halloween 2010

Dearest Oz,

Happy Halloween Handy Manny! What a cutie you are in your Handy Hat. Your Mommy looked and looked for this hat and finally found it on line and ordered it for you so you would look just like Manny.

Your Grandmother sewed the gloves for you while they were visiting you and your parents. Aren't you a lucky boy to have so many talented ladies in your life?

You look so cute with your tools.

I'm sure you can fix anything.

Happy Halloween!

Poppa and Diva wished we could have been with you and your parents when you got to meet Uncle Andy and Rachel. I love this picture of you and Uncle Andy.

I hope you will always know how much Uncle Andy loves you . I know you have lots of fun together.

We miss you.

Know that we pray for you every single day.

See you Thanksgiving.

Your Diva
XOXOXO

Black Apple Dolls

This past September I got involved in a "ladies sewing circle" while visiting our Suzy. Suzy's best friend came all the way from North Carolina to spend some alone time with her and there is nothing that these crafty ladies like any better than finding something new to make.

These are some pattern pieces cut out of scrap material to make "Black Apple Dolls". If you would like to make these "Rag Dolls" you can find the pattern here.

The crafting began in earnest when Oscar went to bed in the evening. There was lots of giggling and "do you remember when?" Suzy and Christie graciously let me be one of the girls and our sewing circle would last well into the early hours of the morning.

I decided to make one for Emma and one for Oscar(.....and one for new baby brother later on when we know more about him.) The problem was how to make one look like a boy. Bear in mind gentle reader that it has been such a long time since I have launched out in a venture to sew that it took Mr. Wonderful two days to even find my sewing machine! (It was hiding out with the Christmas decorations in the attic.)

So here's my Oz and here's Rag Doll Oz .....believe me it was a labor of love!

They look a little like...

Sorry buddy, your Diva tried really hard but you are one of a kind and can never be duplicated.

Hope you like my attempt!

Dialing Diva

Dear Oz

I wrote "The Other Man in my Life" for my other blog. I wrote it because lately whenever the phone rings at your house your Mommy tells me that you always say, "It's Diva!" She tells me you get really excited and want to talk on the phone with me.

I hope you will always be excited to hear from "Your Diva" because hearing from you always makes my day better. The other day I got a call from you. You had the phone the whole time and wouldn't let anyone take it away from you. Your Mommy finally bribed you with a graham cracker so we could talk. You are crazy about graham crackers right now.

We played "Who loves Oscar?" and we named everyone in the entire family. I could hear you giggle when I said, "Poppa loves Oscar." I sang Twinkle, Twinkle little star and left out words so you would tell me the next word. You are very good at that.

We talked about cars, wheels and sandboxes as well as kitties. Your Mommy told me that she had video taped us on the phone and showed it to your Daddy. When you heard the video you insisted that we needed to talk again so we did. I just wanted you know how special that was to me.

You are growing up so quickly. Poppa and I are so proud of you. We love you and pray for you every single day. I pray that you will always want to talk with me and be excited to hear my voice. I love you more than chocolate.....and that's a lot of love.

The picture is of us at Diva's library here in Virginia. You liked "Lucy" the dinosaur and were especially attracted to her teeth.

Your Diva

Here is the entry I wrote for the Lazy Daisy Log

I got a phone call the other day from the "other man" in my life. He is totally irresistible with beautiful deep blue piercing eyes and a smile that makes me week in the knees.

Unlike Mr. Wonderful, this guy really like to talk to me! He finds me delightful, funny, clever, witty and never wants me to hang up. He likes the sound of my voice and laughs at all my jokes and silly songs.

He anticipates my calls and hopes it is me whenever the phone rings. He is always reluctant to hang up and even has to be bribed to let anyone else talk to me.

The other man is my life thinks that I'm the best thing since graham crackers , and when I'm with him I know I am. He loves me with his whole heart and has smiles just for me.

I know I am spoiled by his attention, hugs, kisses and smiles. Every Diva needs her very own champion and mine is 3 feet tall and answers to the name of Oz.

Future talk with Oscar

Dear Oscar,
I truly think you will get your intelligence from your Poppa because he is a very smart man. He loves to learn and explore just like you. He also loves to teach so I am sure he will teach you many interesting things. I had to laugh watching you and Poppa playing with the dinosaurs. He was telling you their names and what each eats and both of you would growl. Poppa would put the pieces in the right place, and you would take them out, growl at each and toss them over your shoulder. Even now at 15 months, your Poppa will see something he wants to tell you about or tell me things he wants to build for you. I hope you always have your Poppa's desire to tinker and explore. We love you very much and pray for you every day. Your Diva

Oscar's First Birthday

Dear Oz,

I'm sure you won't remember your first birthday but believe me, I will never forget it. Your wonderful Mommy sent out really cute "Cowboy Invitations" that she and your Daddy made and both sets of grandparents came to help you celebrate. Who knew you could bring families together? We all came to be a part of your special day.

Your Mommy had been planning your birthday for a very long time. She had "goodie bags" for the guests and even made a bandanna flags for decorations. The backyard was all decorated and you even had a cactus pinyata filled with candy. All your guest got a bandanna, and we played cow boy games like" pin the tail on the donkey", and bandanna bean bag toss.

Uncle Andy rented an Indian Costume to wear to your party complete with headdress and war paint. You love your Uncle Andy and laughed and laughed at him. You liked his bow and arrows too.

Everybody had a really good time. Poppa and Grandpa decided to show you how gunslingers used to have shoot outs in the wild wild west.. Aren't they silly?

I hope you know how very special you are to all of us. We love your smiles and giggles and would do anything for you. (Including wearing a cowboy hat and bandanna!)

Mommy made you your own little carrot cake with a big blue number 1 on it with a cowboy hat on top. Guess What? You had never had sweets and you didn't like it. You would have probably liked broccoli or yogurt better! No matter how much they tempted you you really did not want to eat the cake.

Mommy spent lots of time making and decorating your cake so here she demonstrating the proper way to eat it! Mommy made Mustang cupcakes for everyone and lots of good eats.

You got lots of nice gifts. You played really hard and were exhausted by the end of the party. Grandmother Marie fed you while everyone else cleanup after the party. Poppa and I gave you bath and got you in your pajamas and your Poppa read to you and put you to bed.

I'm not sure who was more exhausted you or your Mommy. Your grandmother Marie and I both agreed that you were the star of the show. Happy Birthday Sweet Boy!

See you Soon

Dear Oz,

It’s September and it will soon be your first birthday . We look over the tremendous impact you have had on us and we wonder how we ever survived without your sweet smile, kisses and adoring looks. I love this picture of my “boys” on the porch swing sharing secrets, swapping stories and no doubt Poppa Charlie is teaching you about nature, cars and trucks or the value of having the right tools for any job.

We are excited to see you soon and participate in your Cowboy Birthday. Your Momma and Daddy have worked really hard to celebrate your first anniversary of arriving safely on planet Earth.

We are blessed by your smiles.

See you soon,

Your Diva
