Why you have a Diva

Dearest Oz,

It did occur to me that some where along the line you will be asking...."How come I've got a Diva instead of a grandma?"

Simple answer: You were very lucky sweetie!

Maybe you will have friends that call their grandmother by a different name. Some of my friends call themselves "Granny," "Nana", "Meme", "Nanny", "Oma", "Nan", "Gram", "Grandma", and one even calls herself "Honey Gram."

According to the dictionary a Diva is a female opera singer. ( No, that's not me unless you happen to hear me singing in the shower.)

A Diva is a person who controls what is going on in her environment and most especially her inner circle. Your Diva is bigger than life and the stories I can tell you kiddo! I'm hoping to be someone really special in your life. I want an active part in your life. I want to sweep you away on excursions, bake cookies with you, make up stories and corny jokes, have playdough in my hair, play trucks, climb trees and kiss away your boo-boos.

A Diva is a Star and I'm prepared to be the "twinkle factor in your life".

A Sweet Story.....

Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess who lived in a beautiful castle three floors above the ground. The beautiful princess lived in the country of New York where people never sleep and every one is always in a hurry.

She married a handsome prince who treated her as the love of his life, his soul mate, and protected and cared for her greatly. Together they went on many great adventures to strange and far away lands and life was good.

But the beautiful princess worked with children and in her heart she wanted one of her very own. This idea grew and grew and only increased after meeting her golden hair niece from the land of the cold north. Princess Emma definitely needed a cousin she thought. So she spoke to Prince Charming and he also thought it was a good idea.

The beautiful princess and Prince Charming had a very handsome baby boy. Prince Oscar had his Daddy's dark hair and dark eyes and his Momma's sweet lips and small frame. He rarely fussed and was the most kissable baby in the whole kingdom. Surely such a remarkable boy as this should be celebrated throughout the kingdom of the land that never sleeps located in the beautiful castle nestled on the third floor.

And so a royal birthday party was planned for his one week birthday that would occur at 11:55 P.M. (the exact time of his birth) because he was much too young to be out after midnight.

The Queen Mother prepared totally decadent carrot cake cupcakes with one candle while the beautiful princess decided to make party hats in lieu of their royal crowns. Right before midnight Prince Oscar was awakening with a kiss, and many warm wishes from his loyal subjects whom he observed were wearing rather strange head gear.

Can you tell which hat belonged to the beautiful princess, the handsome prince and the royal old couple?

That's the look!

Dear Oz, This is one of my favorite pictures of you and your mom. You are only one day old and look at her look of love when she holds you . She is already totally smitten. Who knew the love of her life would be less than 8 pounds, red faced and toothless? You made quite an impression on her which will last for a life time.

Welcome Oscar

Dearest Oscar,

13 Things I hope our new grandson inherits from his parents!

The race is on.....in about one month our brand new grandson will be making his debute appearance on planet earth. Here is a list of 13 things that we hope "tiny Tim" will inherit from his parents Tim and Suzy.

1. Your innocence and vulnerability......sent fresh from God. I hope you will come to know Jesus at an early age and trust Him all the days of your life. I know your parents will guide you and help you all through life.

2. Your love of company.....especially in the middle of the night. Your Momma and I had many late night chats when she was a baby. Take pity on your parents okay?

3. You cuteness factor......from your handsome daddy and your gorgeous Momma.

4. Technology from your techno- savvy Dad and your web site building momma. I bet you will be able to teach your Diva a trick or two.

5. A love of animals (especially cats) from your Momma and Daddy. Wait till you meet Pan and Juno the kitties that live with you.

6. A love for games like your Momma. She loved to play games and would even make your Uncle Andy play "Sweet Valley High" as the "ugly girl" when they were children.  She is great at pretend games too.

7. A love of camping and grilling out from your Daddy. Your dad is a really good cook too. I bet he will be glad to teach you.

8. A love of costumes, Halloween, and acting from your Momma as well as your Dad. Your Momma even makes costumes for the cats.

9. Artistic ability from your Momma. Your momma is one of the most creative people I know. She can create costumes, bulletin boards, scrapbooks and decorate a room or coordinate a wedding, baby shower or Halloween party.

10. A spirit of adventure from your daddy. Tim has been known to jump off a roof and climb to great heights much to the horror of your grandmother.

11. A love of shopping and being able to bargain and barter from your momma. Suzy loved to go to garage sales with your Papa from the time she was a little girl. I bet your Papa will take you to a garage sale too.

12. A love for reading from your daddy the scholar and your momma the librarian.

13. A tender, compassionate and loving heart. Both of your parents have an amazing capacity for kindness and compassion

Who are you?

Ultra-sound pictures

Dear Jelly bean....It won't be long till we will know if you are a baby boy or baby girl. Your sweet Momma already can feel your presence and your Diva and Poppa are totally in love with you.

I saw this cartoon and I wanted to add it to your pre-birthday posts. We had to laugh as technology has come so far since your Diva was pregnant with your Momma.

Hope you know that we pray for you every single day and are excited to see your sweet face.
