Diva's Home Made Boy Decorated Birthday Cake

Dear Oz,

Did you know that Diva hardly ever gets a birthday cake for my birthday?  Poppa made me one year, it was his first baking attempt and as far as I know his last.

This year your Mommy made me a cake and you boys helped frost it.  Diva loves sprinkles so there were lots of sprinkles and lots of love baked into the cake.

I needed some helpers to blow out the candles and you and Charlie were happy to help.

I love your hugs and kisses and I love singing silly songs with you.  Do you remember the Gobbly Gook song?

Gobbly Gook
Gobbly Gook
Makes you sound just like a kook.

Gobbly Gook
Gobbly Gook
DON'T EVER PUT IT ON YOUR FRUIT.

You told me, "Diva, you make me laugh!"  I like to make you laugh.

We have a good time together.

Thank you for my beautiful birthday cake.

My boys

It's been a while since I've posted some pictures of my boys.  They have been growing especially Charlie Bear.   His eyes have turned a beautiful brown just like his Poppa's, his Daddy, and his Uncle Andy.  He had long eyelashes just like big brother Oscar.  Just like most little brothers, he wants to be where ever big brother is and play with whatever he is currently playing with.  Sharing is overrated at times so there is occasionally conflicts and loud vocal complaints and screeches. Charlie is getting really chatty on the phone.  so much so his Mommy has to chase him down to get the phone away from him so we can talk.  Charlie gives me open mouth kisses, and his whole face lights up when he sees Poppa.

Oscar will be 4 in September and is getting ready for preschool.  He has gorgeous blue eyes like his Diva and his Mommy and the longest eyelashes I've ever seen. He loves anything with wheels, trains, building, cooking with daddy, and books.  He is a good big brother (most days) and very opinionated about his clothing and food.  He definitely makes life interesting and gives great hugs.

One smart little guy

Dear Oz,

You are amazing. You have such an active mind.
You are very observant and pick up ideas and thoughts so quickly.

Your sweet momma told me that after Poppa and I left you kept calling your Momma "Calf". That confused her and she was wondering why you would be calling her a baby cow.

It finally dawned on her that you were calling her "Kath" which is what your Poppa calls me. It is a shortened version of my name Kathy . Apparently you thought it was a term of endearment because your poppa uses it when he talks to me. Only you would think to use it for your own dear Momma.

That's pretty smart thinking little man. I love this picture of you. You are growing up much too quickly. Know that Poppa and I love you very much and pray for your every single day.

Be good to your Momma. She works so hard to make things nice for you and your brother and your sweet daddy.

Miss you more than hot chocolate on a cold morning

Your Poppa and Diva

XOXO

The Dusty Truck

Dear Oz,

Diva has been busy decorating the Nest for Christmas. I was about to decorate the shelf above the table when I remembered how much you like Poppa's Special truck. It's usually dusty because of our cats and you call it " Poppa's Dusty truck". I missed you so much I couldn't bring myself to change the decorations. So I dusted it off for the next time you come for a visit.

We miss you very much. We were glad to see you and Charlie and your sweet Momma and Daddy this past weekend . What fun to see Uncle Andy propose to our sweet Rachel. She already loves you so very much. She will make a wonderful Auntie for you and Charlie.

We hope you are being a good helper today. Mommy needs your help.

We love you buddy,

Diva and Poppa

Looks whose on Diva's and Poppa's Christmas Tree

Dear Oscar,

Look whose tiny little hand is on our tree. Do you know whose hand this print belongs to?

It belongs to you big boy. Your very sweet momma and daddy made this very special ornament for me on your very first Christmas. It was hard to get you to open your hand up wide so it is very special to me.

I hope you will always have your hands open wide to receive all the wonderful gifts your Heavenly Father wants to give you. I hope we will always be there for you to hold your hand and let you know how much Diva and Poppa love you.

This hand print reminds me of a song I used to sing to your momma when she was a little girl.

It went like this:

Oh be careful little hands, what you do.
Oh be careful little hands, what you do.
For the Father up above is looking down
with look so be careful little hands what you do.

Thank you for being such a good big brother to baby Charlie. His hands are this small now and you can help him with your big brother hands.

We love you ,

Diva and Poppa

Poppa Makes a Race Track

Dearest Oz,

This is the finished race car track your Poppa made for your third birthday. He knows how much you love cars and he wanted to make you something special for your birthday.

He designed it, cut the wood, put it together, painted it, built the cars and then made the starting gate.

He thinks you are one special young man and he is so very proud of you. You are growing so quickly that we hardly recognize you from month to month. Poppa is very smart so he knows how to make all kinds of neat things. I took this picture of Poppa's notes and the "sample" car he was making for you and your friends.

Here's Poppa cutting the wood for the track. He used an electric saw that was really loud and made lots of sawdust. I was glad he was working outside. Poppa makes lots of noise when he works and boy does he get grumpy if he has trouble cutting the wood. (I just wanted you to know Poppa would only do this for very special boys and girls!)

Here's Poppa making the individual track runs for each car. Did you know that you use math to build things? Diva is not
very good with math and Poppa does not like to listen to suggestions when he is building . (Just thought I'd tell you now in case you try to help him later!) After he built the cars and the track he spray painted the track.

Did you know that it is hard to spray
paint on wood when the wind is blowing? Poppa knows that really well as the paint was spraying on him as well as the wood. I'm really hoping that you and Charlie will enjoy playing with cars and the racing track for a very long time. Poppa made the track in two parts so it can be stored easily.

Diva made the artwork for the each track with a number so you can tell which car was in each lane. Some one waves a checkered flag in real races when the winner crosses the finish line.

Hope you like your track.

We love you
